Antimicrobial packaging film PERLAZID®

 

Our new film coating PERLAZID® protects your product against the growth of bacteria and fungi.

 

The coated materials are highly effective against microorganisms. Uniquely, so far in the world,

 

nearly 100% of bacteria, fungi and yeasts are killed off within 24 hours.

 

The packaging and it's content are guaranteed long-term protection, even after multiple washing with neutral, acidic or alkaline mediums.

 

This innovation was developed, regulatory tested and patented together with the ETH-Zürich (University of Zürich). The actual production is done exclusively on our coating machines in Perlen and can be done on different substrates:

 

  • Coating on non-wovens
    Various applications for the personal and medicinal hygiene sectors, such as disposable hygienic coats, hairnets and masks or non-wovens for wound dressings. Shoe inserts can also be protected against bacteria and fungi growth.

  • Coating on films and paper
    One interesting medical application is the packaging of wound dressings. In the cosmetics sector our innovation can also protect sensitive fluids against microorganisms. Sometimes complex packaging composites are required to protect solid contents against light and bacteria, such as tablets, medical devices or surgical instruments, etc. In such cases, the film is coated on the inside, i.e. towards the product.

 

The antimicrobial coating is not negatively affected by downstream processes, such as thermoforming or sealing.

 

The coating maintains it's high bactericidal and fungicidal efficacy.

 

Our novel product PERLAZID® is opening new areas of application to us, outside of our traditional pharmaceutical focus, which is in line with our strategic orientation.
